Frequently asked questions
The things families ask us before booking Shams Convention. If your question is not here, just ask — we would rather answer it than have you guess.
Booking & dates
Send us the date on WhatsApp or call the venue. We check the booking diary and reply with whether it is open, usually the same day. It helps if you also mention the occasion and a rough guest count.
As early as you can. Peak wedding season and muhurtham dates get taken first, sometimes many months ahead. Off-season weekdays are usually available at much shorter notice. There is no harm in asking about a date that is close — cancellations do happen.
An advance of [ADVANCE AMOUNT / %] confirms and blocks your date. The balance is due [WHEN]. Cancellation terms: [CANCELLATION POLICY].
Yes. We would prefer you did. Message us to arrange a time and someone will show you the hall, the stage area and the parking. Visiting on a day with no function booked means you see the space empty and can picture your own setup.
The venue
The hall takes 600–1,000 guests, depending on how the function is laid out and how much room the stage and dining need. Tell us your guest count and we will confirm the arrangement that works.
Yes, the hall is air-conditioned throughout, so an afternoon function in the middle of a Hyderabad summer is as comfortable as an evening one.
Yes, rooms are available and they can be used to stay overnight. They are not included in any of the booking packages, though — rooms are always booked separately from the hall. Tell us how many people need rooms when you enquire and we will confirm what is free on your date and what it will cost.
Shams Convention is at 8-1-41/J/28, opposite the 7 Tombs main gate in Shaikpet, Hyderabad — Telangana 500008. The contact page has a map and a directions link that opens the venue in Google Maps.
Catering & decoration
Yes. You are welcome to bring your own caterer and decorator, at no extra charge. Plenty of families already have someone they have used before, and we would rather you had the food you want than push you towards a fixed list. If you would rather not arrange it yourself, we will arrange the caterer and the decor for you — each is quoted separately from the hall.
Yes, at no extra charge — or use ours. We arrange all types of decor — the stage and the mandap, the entrance and hall decor and the function lighting — so you can hand the whole thing over if you would rather.
We arrange the caterer for you — there are different catering packages to choose from, and you settle the menu and the rate with the caterer once we put you in touch. Catering is priced on its own rather than bundled into the hall booking. If you would rather use a caterer you already know, that is welcome too, at no extra charge.
Yes. We arrange the stage and the mandap, dress the entrance and the hall, and set the function lighting — all types of decor. It is quoted alongside the hall rather than included in a single rate, so send us your date and the kind of setup you have in mind and we will price it.
Yes. For Telugu ceremonies we set the mandap and the stage out according to vaastu. Tell us when you book and the hall will be laid out that way for the day.
On the day
Yes. Valet parking is available for guests, so no one has to look for a space on the road.
A booking runs for [HOURS] hours. Setup access begins [SETUP TIME] and the hall must be vacated by [END TIME]. Extra hours can be arranged in advance at [EXTRA HOUR RATE].
Yes. There is a lift, so guests who cannot manage stairs do not have to. Tell us when you enquire if anyone in the family will need a wheelchair and we will make sure the route is clear on the day.
Still have a question?
